1. at one’s finger tips 了如指掌 (表示对某种情况非常熟悉，好像指着自己的手掌给人看。例如：
with enough equipment, safety is at his finger tips. 带足了设备，他对安全已了如指掌。)
2. get one’s goat 惹某人发火(从前，在赛马期间，人们常常把山羊与赛马一起关在马厩，使处于兴奋状态的马保持镇静、养精蓄锐，以候开赛。若决赛前的晚上，偷走某人的山羊，参赛的马则会烦躁不安，精力受损，这必定让马的主人发火。
例如： that sort of attitude really gets her goat. 那种态度真的使她非常恼火。
)3. go to the wall 败北，认输 (人们在街上行走。骑车或乘坐马车时，如果被挤到墙壁一边，就无法前进，而容易被别人超过去。
通常指在竞争或斗争中失败了。例如： i surely know my pride will go to the wall.
我知道我的骄傲一定会碰壁。)
4. cat’s paw替罪羔羊，替死鬼(出自伊索寓言。一只猴子想吃火中的栗子，但自己不去取，却抓起猫的爪子去取，结果烧坏了猫爪子。
后来人们便用来比喻很容易受骗或为别人做危险事情的人。例如： it is plain enough that she has just made a cat’s paw of you.
很显然她只不过是利用你作为她的工具。)
