一、 教学内容及教材分析。
new york is in the east.》是新标准英语第四册第七模块countries的第一单元。这一单元主要选择学生比较陌生的西方国家城市进行描述，通过对美国几大城市的观察﹑**，使学生初步学会描述地理位置，感受语言的多功能性。
同时通过语言的运用，要求学生能听说两个句型washington is the capital of the usa.和 it’s in the east/west.并初步运用于情景交际中。
进一步培养学生的交流能力，让学生体会到综合运用语言能力的重要性，培养学生的口语交际能力。
二、 教学目标。
1．知识目标：
听说认读单词： project, also, call, speak, right，city, cousin, there。 掌握四会方位词 east， west。
学习并运用功能句washington is the capital of the usa. it’s in the east.
2．技能目标：
能够运用所学知识来描述一个城市及他的位置。
3．情感目标：
通过对本课的学习，让学生了解有关美国的一些知识、培养他们的跨文化意识和国际视野。培养学生主动用英语与他人交流、并能积极与他人合作的能力。
三、教学重点难点：
教学重点：1. 能正确的识别单词：
country，east，project，speak, city, west ,also ,call， right， cousin, there.
2. 能口头运用 “ new york is in the east.”这类语句说明地理位置。
教学难点：熟练运用所学的方位词描述城市的地理位置。
四、教学过程：

1.通过听读磁带或向别人请教的方式学习新单词。
2.初学课文，了解大意。

2）learn the new words. (用本节课的新单词east, west, south, north做为四个小组的名字，师用各种不同的方式进行强化训练，如：地图上的方位展示；listen and point; draw a picture.
环节分析：以本节课的重点单词四个方位词作为小组的命名便于学生在无意识下就掌握了新知。同时锻炼了学生的听力，并与美术学科相结合，达到学科整和。)
