how long
how long 意为“多久；多长时间”，常用于对一段时间进行提问，答语通常是(for) three days / weeks / months 等时间段；也可用于提问某物的长度。如：how long is that box?
那个盒子有多长？
不定代词+形容词。
形容词修饰something, anything, nothing, somebody, nobody等不定代词时，要放在这些不定代词的后面。汉语翻译时通常位于其前。如：
i’m going to live somewhere quiet and beautiful. 我打算住在一个既安静又美丽的地方。
can’t wait to do sth.迫不及待地想要做某事， 如：tom can’t wait to play basketball after class.
汤姆下课后迫不及待地要去打篮球。 can’t help doing sth. 情不自禁地做某事。
如：she can’t help laughing after hearing the funny story.听了这个有趣的故事她情不自禁地笑了。

it takes (+sb) +时间段 + to do sth
it takes (+sb) +时间段 + to do sth意为“做某事花费（某人）多长时间”，其中it是形式主语，真正的主语是后面的动词不定式to do sth。
动词take的其他常见用法：
take意为“乘；搭（车、船等）”。如： my mother takes a bus to work every day. 我妈妈每天坐公共汽车上班。
take意为“带走；拿走”，指从说话处拿到别处。如： take away the empty bottle, please. 请把这个空瓶子拿走。
take意为“服（药） ”如： take the medicine three times a day.
服用这药每天三次。
spend作“花费”讲时，常用于句型“sb + spend + 时间 / 金钱 + on sth”或“sb +spend + 时间 / 金钱 + in +)doing sth”。
