2023年，爱立信公司向etsi（欧洲电信标准委员会）提出了edge的可行性研究方案，并在同年得到认可。edge（enhanced data rates for gsm）的全称为 gsm演进增强型数据速率，是一种标准的空中接口。它在空中接口上增加了一种新的调制方式——8psk。
gsm系统可根据无线链路传输质量选择gmsk或8psk两种调制方式。由于8psk调制是线性调制，其每个符号传送3比特信息，从而使数据传输速率提高 ３倍。在现有的gsm系统中引入了edge后，就可以支持速率高达单时隙为的数据业务，并且能够向上支持等业务的需求。
tacstacs的英文全称是total access communications system，它是一种全入网通信系统技术。该技术按照英国标准而设计的模拟式移动**系统，其频率范围为900mhz。
pcspcs是personal communications service的缩写，意思是“个人通讯服务”。这是美国联邦通讯委员会(fcc)使用的一个术语，专指正在美国部署的一套数字蜂窝技术。pcs包括cdma(也称作is－95)，gsm和主要用于北美的tdma(也叫is－136)。
pcs的频率为1900mhz.
dampsdamps的全称是digital amps，其中amps是一种高级移动**服务技术，该技术为模拟蜂窝系统，使用800mhz频谱，在美国占主导地位。相对应地，digital amps代表的是数字化高级移动**系统。这种数字网络解决方案基于美国的is-136数字标准。
