坚持；强调；坚决要求；坚决认为。
第三人称单数：insists现在分词：insisting过去式：insisted过去分词：insisted
insist表示坚持要某人做某事时，后面的宾语从句中的谓语动词须用虚拟语气，即(should)+动词原形。
例句：i insisted that the boy (should) wash his hands beforeh**ing supper.

家里人坚持认为我不应让步，而应该留下来继续抗争。insist on/upon sth坚决要求。

特别注意：insist，suggest接宾语从若表示建议应用虚拟语气，动词形式为(should)do，但如果insist表示：简称、坚持说，固执己见；suggest表示：
表明、暗示，所在宾语从句应用陈述语气。
