初中英语阅读理解题是考查学生英语水平的重要测试题型，在各地中考英语试卷中均占较大比重（通常占总分的20%左右）。英语阅读理解题主要是考查学生综合运用所学英语语言知识的能力，包括细节理解能力、词义判断能力、归纳概括能力及逻辑推理能力等。根据部颁英语新课程标准，初中毕业生应达到五级综合语言运用能力。
其中英语阅读理解需达到以下目标要求：
1、能根据上下文和构词法推断、理解生词的含义；
2、能理解段落中各句子之间的逻辑关系；
3、能找出文章中的主题，理解故事的情节，**故事情节的发展和可能的结局；
4、能读懂常见体裁的阅读材料；
5、能根据不同的阅读目的运用简单的阅读策略获取信息；
6、能利用字典等工具进行学习；
7、除教材外，课外阅读量应累计达到15万词以上。
中考英语阅读理解考查的主要题型有以下五种：
一、主旨题：考查考生掌握所阅读材料的主旨和大意的能力。
主旨题所提问题主要涉及到文章的主题（中心思想）、标题、作者的观点态度、写作目的、以及文章的语气等。我们首先要找出文章的主题句，一般我们可以在以下几个地方找到：
1、段首句，演绎型文章的主题句通常能在段落的开头部分。
2、段末句，归纳型文章的主题句通常在段落的结尾部分。
3、段中句，如果主题句既不在段首，也不在段末，则我们应仔细地在该段的中心部分去寻找。
4、暗示句，有的主题句并非明示，而是通过某种独特的描述方式或修以辞手段委婉、含蓄地提出来的即暗示句。这种暗示句难度较大，它可能不是一个完整的句子而只是一个词。
主旨题的提问形式主要有以下几种：

4) this passage mainly talks about

二、细节理解题： 考查考生把握文章的事实和细节的能力。
做阅读理解题，首先要抓住文章的主旨和大意，另外还需要搞清楚文中的一些重要细节或事实。细节题在阅读理解部分占比较大，涉及的内容广，包括人物、时间、地点、数目、原因、结果以及文字结构等。这类题目相对要简单一些，它们有两个共同的特点：
1、针对特定细节的考题，其正确答案大都可以在阅读短文材料中找到对应的文字部分来验证。当然，它可能是一个单词或者短语，也有可能是一个句子或相关的几个句子，但单词、句式和表达方式不同。
2、干扰项常常是主体思想与细节混杂，正确答案细节和非正确答案的细节混杂，甚至真假混杂难辨。因此，要做好阅读理解中的确定细节和事实的题目，一要在文章中找出相应的信息点，二要排除干扰项。
考查细节题的常见提问形式有以下几种：
