普通高中英语课程标准》（实验稿）总词汇表共收录3300个单词和360个短语或词组。英语教师通常在高三第二轮复习时对这些词汇进行“拉网式”复习。而词汇多、用法杂、时间紧、无从下手是词汇复习中普遍存在的问题。
针对这些问题，我们设计了本套词汇复习练习。它具有以下特点：
一、化整为零，突出重点，有的放矢。
为了缩短词汇复习周期和提高词汇复习效率，我们根据macmillan english dictionary for advanced learners对核心词汇的划分标准，选出了1100个重点词汇，等分成26个单元，每单元40个重点词汇，每单元的课时为40分钟左右，便于教师课堂操作。
二、句子呈现，设置语境，便于记忆。
本套练习体现了最新的词汇学习理念：英语学习的记忆单位有单词、词组、句子、段落和篇章等，而句子既能提供词汇的使用语境，也便于记忆。因此，记忆具有完整语意的句子是学习单词的最好方式。
本套练习中的所有核心词汇都有一个便于记忆的简短例句。这样就有效地克服了机械记忆零碎单词时“费时低效”的弊端。
三、练习多样，经典权威，实用高效。
我们根据新课程标准及高考英语的最新走向，对不同的单词提出不同的要求，并设置了有针对性的练习。每个单元由考点速记、单词拼写、词组填空、单项选择、句子翻译以及词形转换等10个板块中的5个组合而成。本套练习中所有例句都来自当前三大最新、最权威字典：
牛津高阶英汉双解词典（第6版）、longman dictionary of contemporary english和macmillan english dictionary for advanced learners。
