近义词辨析是考研英语词汇的考察形式之一，考生可不要认为单词背背就行了，需要理解和多维度来看，下面就以例题来说明一下近义词辨析都怎么来看，大家在背诵词汇的时候也可以多关注。
1.表示“范围”的单词。
scope、scale、extent、range、reach
首先这四个单词均为名词词性。
scope会特指一个抽象的范围，比如势力范围，听力范围，以及人的见识，学习的广度等等，也可以具体指导弹，火箭等的射程范围；总的来说就是可以控制和掌控的区域；
比如：china will further expand the scope of its opened-up area.
scale更多的强调的是规模的大小，可测量的。
比如：the scale of a hill , enlarge the scale of a factory
extent
它的动词形式为extend，词义为“延伸”所以名词形式的意思也是“延伸，扩展”之意，是一个单维度的概念，指能延伸到的范围和程度，通常用于短语中：to some
extent，to a certain extent等，range一般指某个限度之内的范围，比如**幅度，比如山脉。
通常也有固定的搭配，range from…to…
指范围从。。。到。。。
reach具体指手的触及范围。

2.“改变”shift, transform, alternate, concert，alter, vary
这一组词均有“改变”之意，具体区别及用法如下：
shift具体指位置，方向上发生了变化和改变。
transform指彻底改变了外形，特征等。
alternate指两者交替变化。
convert指由一种形式或用途改变为另一种形式或用途。
alter一般强调大小或样式的改动，局部性的改动。不会变成新的东西，比如衣服等；
