verb tenses（动词时态）：
时态，是指不同时间下发生的动作或动作存在的状态。时间有现在、过去、将来和过去将来四种；状态有一般、进行、完成和完成进行四种。因此，英语动词时态共有十六种，常用的有十二种。
1. the ****** present tense （一般现在时）：现阶段经常性，反复性的动作；客观真理；表示主语的特征、性格、能力等。
i usually get up at seven this year.
the earth moves around the sun.
some of my classmates speak english very well.
2. the ****** past tense （一般过去时）：过去某阶段经常性反复性动作；
in the first month, i spent too much time ****** friends.
i usually got up at six in high school.
在时间状语从句和条件状语从句中，一般现在时和一般过去时可以表示将来。
if you come tomorrow, i’ll go swimming with you.
he said he wanted to be a teacher when he graduated from college.
3. the ****** future （一般将来时）：将要发生的动作或情况；一种对未来的预见或倾向。
i will attend the meeting tomorrow.
you will feel better if you take this medicine.
do think it will rain tomorrow?
4. the future in the past （过去将来时）：从过去的某个时间看将要发生的事；表示意愿，许诺等。
mom told me that i would see my friend the next day.
we knew he would never permit such a thing.
he promised he would send a postcard to me.
5. the present progressive tense （现在进行时）：说话时正在进行的动作；现阶段正在进行的动作；按计划安排近期内即将发生的动作。
she is cooking dinner at this moment.
he is studying chinese in beijing.
he is le**ing for beijing tomorrow morning.
i am going to hainan for the winter holiday
6. the past progressive tense （过去进行时）：过去某一时刻正在进行的动作；两个过去的动作同时进行；一个动作发生时（瞬时）另一个动作仍在进行。
i was sleeping at 2:00 yesterday afternoon.
they were playing basketball while i was doing my homework.
was it still raining when you came in?
he lost his keys when he was playing football.
7. the present perfect （现在完成时）：动作到现在为止已经完成；从过去延续至今的动作、状态，一般与for/since引导的短语或从句连用；对现在的事情有影响。
the taxi has arrived.
we owned a car. -we h**e owned a car.
we h**e lived here since 1982.
8. the past perfect （过去完成时）：过去某时前已发生的动作或情况（过去的过去）；
by the end of last year, we had learned 2,000 words.
when we arrived at the theatre, they had waited for half an hour.
the train had left before i reached the station.
9.完成进行式：在特定时间前发生的事情存在了一段时间或一直持续着。
they h**e been waiting outside for two hours.
we had been waiting for three hours when we were allowed to enter.
i will h**e been teaching for ten years in july.
